The Stevens Point Festival of the Arts was  founded in 1972 by the UWSP Committee of University Women and Student Wives, and the founding member was Sherin Bowen. Though the festival began in 1972, it went public in 1974 after growing interest.

In the 1980's, the festival began raising money for art students and the

festival continues this tradition today. We have given back over $60,000 to our community to help support art education.

The festival used to be held at the UW-Stevens Point Campus in the University Center and then the Fine Arts Center. Then, in 2021 the Festival was moved to the Artists & Fare Collective with hosts Oso's Brewery and The Mission Coffee, where it is still hosted currently.

Our Roots: Why do we do what we do?

Influence the Next Generation of Great Artists

A foundational belief for the Festival of the Aris integrating and celebrating the next generation of artists. At the Festival, a Kids Art section is highlighted for this specific reason: not only is it a great activity for children and helps them let out some energy, but it gets their creative juices flowing and helps to inspire them to become professional artists later in life!
